Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of pdfshack.com (the "Service"), operated by PDFShack ("we," "us," or "our"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. The Service

PDFShack provides browser-based PDF editing tools. Most processing happens entirely in your browser; we don't store or transmit your files unless a specific tool explicitly requires it. We may add or remove tools over time.

2. Accounts and free trial

You may use the Service for up to three (3) documents without an account. Continued use beyond the trial requires a paid subscription and registration. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.

3. Subscriptions, billing, and renewals

Paid plans (currently $5/month or $30/year) are billed in advance through our payment processor, PayPal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price. You can cancel at any time from your PayPal account or from your account page on PDFShack; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any law or third-party right (including copyright);
• Process content that's unlawful, defamatory, or harmful;
• Attempt to bypass the trial limit, security controls, or rate limits;
• Reverse-engineer or interfere with the Service.

6. Your content

You retain all rights to the files you process. For client-side tools (most of the Service), files never leave your device. For any server-side tool, files are transmitted to our servers solely to perform the requested operation and are deleted promptly thereafter; we do not use them for any other purpose.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including software, design, and branding, is owned by us and protected by copyright and other laws. These Terms don't grant you any rights to our trademarks.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any particular PDF output will be suitable for your purpose.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms. You may stop using the Service or cancel your subscription at any time.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page. Your continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which we are organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state and federal courts located there.
